The system we have now is fucked, capitalism is fucked, I would actually prefer a WELL RUN socialist nation.
Why is capitalism fucked? because it's the biggest waste of resources EVER, it encourages competition between companies to sell goods and services through marketing (which should be totally unnecessary for an intelligent being, and a waste of money), also these companies have one intention only, to turn a profit (like everyone else living in a capitalistic nation), so what do they do? They sell goods and services to us that are usually not all they're made up to be (who else is on their fourth Ipod?), they over price their goods and services if they have an impressive brand name and people still buy it because they're told they need it. They also exploit LDC to make their goods in order to make more money.
So we end up with 1/4 of the world living in luxury with all these little materialistic unnecessary items, and the other 3/4's making them. This is basically slavery in my eyes.
Here's something I found on another site,
"The greater a person's income, the smaller is the marginal benefit of a dollar. The millionth dollar spent by a rich person brings a smaller marginal benefit to that person than the marginal benefit of the thousandth dollar spent by a poorer person. So, by transferring a dollar from the millionaire to the poorer person, more is gained than is lost and the two people added together are better off."
This is the whole idea behind socialism: distributing the money more equally and fairly among the people.
I noticed during the election, all these rich southern republicans crying over redistribution of wealth.
Why? Because a poorer family that wasn't given the same opportunities as them is able to eat better at night?
Wow, that's fucking terrible.
In order to maintain such a living standard held by this 1/4 of the world, imperialism and war are imperative. It is imperative… to support such a lumbering top heavy failing system, to make capitalism global. Meaning that resources must be exploited by third world nations, and moved through second world markets, if the first world can expect to continue it’s lifestyle. This is another reason why Capitalism, has no intention of the liberation of impoverished third world nations. For it is their land, labor, and goods produced, that keep the system from busting at the seems.
Socialistic resource based economy anyone please.
Thoughts?

Socialism is a great idea that most nations should put to use. Instead, we have abunch of fat cats who don't want to change their very comfortable lifes.
It sounds to me like New Zealand is having similar problems as the U.S right now.
I'm not very smart on this issue but you just did hit the nail on the head.

Because of socialism, the Soviet Union experienced a severe economic downturn in the 1970s and 1980s, which contributed to its collapse, and China has been reforming since towards a more market-oriented economy.
or i can quote Winston Churchill.... "Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely."
Socialism impedes technological progress due to competition being stifled. As evidence we need only look to the U.S. to see where socialism fails, by observing that the most technologically backward areas are those where government owns the means of production. Without a reward system, it is argued, many inventors or investors would not risk time or capital for research. This was one of the reasons for the United States Patent system and copyright law.

although i dont really agree with capitalism either. Brand-based marketing puts more emphasis on the company's name-brand than on manufacturing products. Products are designed to wear out faster, and the prices are jacked up just because of the name brand.
